Barley Hill Playing Fields

Groundworks

The project was implemented by Leeds City Council to alleviate the flooding of the playing fields due to the inadequate drainage system.

The project required the stripping of topsoil and subsoil from the existing playing fields, installation of main drains, lateral drains, french drains and various inspection and flow control chambers. Indepth also constructed an engineered clay bund for future flood protection to the two sides of the playing fields which were then subsequently top soiled over.

The topsoil was then re-graded and the excess spoil removed from site. Indepth seeded the fields and after the grass had taken, carried out slit trenches at 900 to the lateral drains to facilitate surface water drainage.

Leeds City Council commended Indepth on their pro-active approach to the works and the quality of the works undertaken.
