The scheme was designed by the local authority to provide attenuation storage for a £600 million Retail Quarter in Sheffield City Centre which is a development of commercial units, shops, bars restaurants, accommodation and open spaces in the heart of the city.

The scheme involved installing 130m of 1500mm diameter concrete pipes at circa 5m deep including the management of flow control penstocks to successfully control the flows and eradicate any problems that potential stormy and hazardous weather conditions would generate.

Many of the high risks associated with City Centre schemes such as this were throughout the project, controlled efficiently and successfully, with the companies rigorous Health and Safety systems and procedures seated at the forefront of its success.
