The works involved a scheme to reduce infiltration into a closed landfill in Northwest England.

We undertook the installation of over 6km of fin drain to collect rainfall and divert via collector pipes to a 400 linear metre drainage trench running at the toe of the perimeter of the landfill.

Works carried out:

• Repairs to Geosynthetic Clay Liners on the landfill
• Ditch reinstatement
• Construction of clay bunds on the slopes to control leachate flow
• Leachate and groundwater control and treatment
• Classification and disposal of waste materials
• Site reinstatement.

The works were undertaken to demanding health, safety and environmental requirements together with a short timetable to meet the client’s site requirements.
